Mulțumesc mult editurii Herg Benet pentru exemplar! Dacă sunteți iubitori de povești cu vampiri va recomand să intrați pe site-ul Herg Benet și să achiziționați romanul. 

De obicei știți că romanele pe care le citesc primesc în mare între 3 și 5 steluțe. Fiind amatoare de filme cu vampiri, povești de dragoste cu monștrii însetați de sânge pentru mine romanul Laurei vine ca o mare dezamăgire. Cred că la un moment dat trebuia sa gasesc și un roman care să nu-mi placă pentru a  nu-mi sfârși existența susținând sus și tare că toate cărțile pe care le-am citit au fost cele mai bune și reușite opere, cărți pe care le-aș putea ridica la rang de artă.

Revertis este o poveste clișeică cu vampiri și vrăjitoare. După câte am reușit eu să înțeleg povestea se leagă în jurul destinului frumoasei Beatrice. Cândva Beatrice a fost un om normal căruia inima îi bătea nebunește arzând de iubire pentru Victor. Numai că Beatrice urma să descopere că inima lui Victor e moartă și rece, însetată de chemarea lichidului roșu și cald ce curge prin venele fiecărui om. După descoperirea secretului, Beatrice încearcă să-și curme viața. Dar destinul nu vrea să o lase, nu o abandonează în brațele pieirii ci o ajută să înțeleagă mai bine cum arăta viața pe care o ducea Victor. Găsită și transformată de Jérȏm, Beatrice este acum o creatură a întunericului. Părăsește Franța regelui soare, țară ce îi devenise mai mult o închisoare și evadează în viața nebună a New Yorkului, la brațul lui Jérȏm. 

În primul rând nu mi-a plăcut romanul ăsta pentru faptul că nu aduce nimic nou. Nu vrea nici cum să schimbe mitul vampirilor... Dacă am încerca să punem în scenă ce propune Laura, am obține fără doar și poate un episod în genul celor din The Vampire Diaries și asta nu e deloc bine. 

În al doilea rând m-a deranjat folosirea obsesivă a termenului de SILIRE ... Vampirii sileau oamenii să facă lucruri pentru ei. Orice om care a urmărit măcar o singură dată măcar cinci minute dintr-un film/serial cu vampiri știe că termenul este A CONSTRÂNGE... Sincer, termenul de a sili pe cineva să facă ceva mi-a zgâriat extrem de tare timpanele. 

În al treilea și nu ultimul rând, m-a debusolat foarte tare succesiunea de planuri. Într-un act se povestește ceva din Franța regelui Ludovic al XII-lea, secvența este întreruptă pentru redarea amintirilor unui personaj, apoi acțiunea este iarăși întreruptă pentru a se povestii întmplările personajelor din New York-ul zilelor noastre. Faptul că sunt trei planuri narative, din punctul meu de vedere prost inserate, debusolează cititorul. 

Al patrulea și acum serios ultimul lucru... deranjant la cartea asta, a fost numărul și numele personajelor. Beatrice e Beatrice în Franța, dar ajunsă în New York nu mai e Beatrice e Lauren, la un momet dat apare o secvență derutantă unde Aleppa se subînțelege că ar fi Jasmin... Laura nu știe să își controleze personajele. 

Astea fiind spuse sper să-mi înțelegeți punctul de vedere și să nu mă omorâți cu pietre.

Usually you know that the books I am reading are rated with 3 or 5 stars. Being a fan of stories with vampires, love stories about monsters that are screaming for blood, for me this book came as a big disappointment. I think at some point this should happen, to find a book that I don’t like so I couldn’t end my existence saying that everything I ever read were the best books in the world. 

Revertis is a cliché story about vampires and witches. The whole story seems to be about Beatrice’s destiny. Once upon a time, Beatrice used to be a normal human being whose heart used to beat like crazy for Victor. But Beatrice was about to discover that Victor’s heart was dead and cold, hungry to feed with the red and warm liquid that flow to every human’s veins. After she discovers his secret, she tries to kill herself. But destiny made her understand the life that Victor’s living. Beatrice was found and turned into a vampire by Jérȏm. She’s now on the dark side. She’s leaving France, the land of king Ludowic, a land that was more of a prison for her, for escaping into the crazy life of New York having Jérȏm on her side.

First of all I didn’t liked this book because it didn’t come with nothing new. This book doesn’t want to change the myth of vampires any how. If we try to put this book on stage, we will end up having an episode like the ones from Vampire Diaries and that’s not good.

Second it bothered me the use of verb „FORCED”. Vampires forced humans to do something for them. Every human being that was watching at least once a movie about vampires even for five minutes knows that the verb is to COMPELED. Honestly, the use of FORCED scratched my eardrum.

3rd and not the least reason, I was very confused when the action from France was interrupted for going on with some memories of the characters and then the memories were interrupted for going on with some new stories from New York.

4th and now seriously the least thing that bothered me at this book, was the big amount of characters per numer of pages and their names. Beatrice was Beatrice in France but when she got to New York Beatrice is no longer Beatrice and her new name is Lauren. At some point in the book a sequence appears where Aleppa seems to be Jasmin because the author doesn’t know to control the characters. 

That being said I hope you could understand my point of view and please don’t throw rocks in me.

Cartea asta mi-a amintit mult de copilărie. Mi-a amintit că avem nevoie să credem în ceva la orice vârstă. Mi-a amintit cât de mult trebuie să credem în cei din jurul nostru pentru a transforma realitatea.

Bunica a învățat-o și pe Elsa lucrurile astea. Elsa a învățat că trebuie să creadă în magie, în super-eroi. Elsa trebuie să creadă că dincolo de înfățișarea normala a oamenilor, toți au povești demne de a fi auzite. Toți oamenii din viața Elsei și-au pus odată speranțele în bunica. Aveau ceva în ce să creadă iar asta o făcea pe bunica o super eroină. 

Bunica construiește pentru Elsa Tărâmul-aproape-treaz, unde trăiesc animale nori, dragoni, cavaleri și creaturi de basm. Elsa ajunge să creadă atât de tare în făpturile din poveștile bunicii încât ajunge să recunoască trăsăturile lor în oamenii ce locuiesc chiar lângă ea, astfel femeia cu fustă neagra, câinele de luptă, femeia în vârstă, bărbatul singur din blocul ei sunt exact luptătorii despre care vorbea bunica în basmele ei. Toate traumele cândva trăite de vecinii Elsei, au fost transformate de bunica în lecții pentru micuța ei nepoată pentru a învăța despre curaj, onoare și demnitate. 

Mi-a plăcut mult cartea lui Fredrick Backman pentru că ne-a adus textul în forma asta. Pentru ușurința și fidelitatea cu care a reușit să expună toate basmele, pentru sinceritatea cu care a tratat lumea Elsei, pentru tot ce a făcu Fredrick Backman cu textul lui. De departe una din cele mai bune cărți pe care le-am citit până acum.

This book remembered me so much of my childhood. This book also remembered me that every human being deserves something to believe in at every age of it's life. As well as we need to trust the people that are around us to change the reality we wants to live in. 

Grandma taught Elsa about those things. Elsa was taught to believe in magic, to believe in super heroes. Elsa needs to think that behind the normal look of every person each of them has a story worth to be listen and worth to be told. Every human that grandma meet in her past has put their hopes in the power of grandma to save them. They had something to believed in and that made grandma a super hero.

Grandma has built for Elsa a magic land where animals are made out of clouds, where dragons exists as well as knights and other fairytale creatures exists too. Elsa believed that much in grandma's stories that she gets to see that her neighbors are alike with the knights from grandma's stories. Every trauma once felt by her neighbors has been changed by grandma into life lessons about bravery, honor and dignity for her innocent grand-daughter.

I loved so much this book of Fredrick Backman for bringing the story in this shape. For the ease and allegiance that he succeeded to tell the fairytales, for his sincerity towards Elsa's worlds and for many others that he did with his text. So far one of the best books I have ever read since now.

E prima oară când citesc genul ăsta de poveste și trebuie să spun că am adorat cartea asta. De fiecare dată când mă ridicam de pe scaun simțeam nevoia să mă întorc și să mai citesc câteva pagini, care se transformau ulterior în câteva capitole. 

To kill a kingdom după cum sugerează numele este o poveste despre putere, despre destrămarea unor imperii. Elian, în tabăra oamenilor, prinț din Midasam și explorator al mărilor își dorește să ucidă întraga specie a sirenelor. Sirenele pe de altă parte își doresc distrugerea rasei umane. Ura dintre cele două lumi provine din faptul că fiecare a ucis la un moment dat cel puțin un membru al taberei adverse. Povestea devine însă mai complicată. Regina mării pornește un întreg război împotriva ficei sale. Un război despre putere și loialitate ca toate războaiele. Lira are o misiune de îndeplinit pentru a-și dovedi meritul de succesoare a tronului mării, lucru pentru care este nevoită să-și părăsească casa. Abandonată pe un teritoriu străin și într-un corp străin, Lira trebuie să câștige încrederea prințului de Midasan fără să-și dezvăluie originile. Războiul se termină însă avându-o pe Lira ca învingătoare. Deși a fost foarte aproape de a-l pierde pe Elian, încrederea a reușit să îi aducă împreună și să sfârșească astfel războiul dintre oameni și sirene.

I-am dat cinci chocolate books pentru că a reușit să mă captiveze de la prima pagină, pentru a reușit să îmi arate și altfel de povești. După cum am mai menționat îmi plac cărțile care îmi dezvăluie umanitatea din oameni, dintr-un motiv sau altul. Iar To kill a kingdom mi-a arătat câtă umanitate poate să existe chiar și în cele mai ciudate și neînțelese forme. Câtă iubire și câtă libertate poate să existe pe tărâmuri încă necunoscute.

It was the first time when I read this kind of story and I have to say I adored this book. Every time I was leaving my seat I was feeling the need to come back and read few more pages that turned out into being few more chapters. 

To kill a kingdom as the name says is a story about power, about destruction of kingdoms. Elian, fighting for humans side, prince of Midasan and explorer of the seas desire to kill the  entire species of sirens. Sirens on the other hand wish for erasing the entire human race. The hate between the two species comes from the fact that each of them killed someone from the other side. (Eye for the eye and teeth for the teeth. I kill one of yours because you killed one of mine) The story becomes even more complicated. The Sea Queen starts a war against her own daughter. A war about power and loyalty as all the wars. Lira has a mission to complete but for that she's forced to leave her home. Abandoned on a strange land in a strange body, Lira has to gain the trust of the prince without showing her true origins. The war ended with Lira being the winner. Even if she was so close of losing Elian, the trust has succeeded to bring them together and put an end of the war between humans and sirens.

I gave it five chocolate books because it kept me entertained since the first page, because it showed me other stories than the ones i already was familiar with. As I already mentioned I like the books that shows me the humanity in people, for a reason or another. To kill a kingdom showed me how much humanity can exist even on strangest and misunderstood shapes. How much love and freedom can exist on unexplored worlds.

Mulțumesc editurii HERG BENET pentru exemplar. Mie, personal, nu mi-a plăcut romanul dar asta nu înseamnă că voi nu trebuie să îi dați o șansă. Îl găsiți pe site-ul editurii cu un singur click.

Când ai șaisprezece ani e foarte greu să ști încotro vrei să mergi cu viața ta, cu atât mai mult cu cât trecutul te bântuie la orice pas. Aysel are șaisprezece ani și locuiește într-un orășel micuț din Kentucky împreună cu mama, tatăl vitreg, sora și fratele vitreg. Deși are doar șaisprezece ani, Aysel e hotărâtă că viața nu merită trăită, nu atunci cânt trecutul te bântuie, nu atunci când faptele părinților tăi se răsfrâng asupra ta, nu atunci când tu esti rodul nedorit al unei iubiri monstruase. 

După părerea mea, Aysel nu încearcă să moară. Aysel încearcă să trăiască. Încearcă doar să tragă un semnal de alarmă asupra evenimentele ce s-ar putea cândva îmtâmpla. Încearcă doar să strige dar strigătul ei nu are ecou, pentru că Aysel strigă în sine, strigă pentru și împotriva ei. Îi îndepărtează pe toți cei dragi și ca orice adolescent în plină criză a vârstei, așteaptă ca cineva să își dea seama că trebuie să o salveze, ca cineva să își dea seama de monstrul întunecat din inima ei. 

Un adolescent la fel de dezorientat este și Roman. Un băiat de șaisprezece ani torturat de durerea și vina pe care o resimte în urma morții surorii de doar 9 ani. Spre diferență de Aysel, Roman este iubit, înconjurat de familie, protejat, adorat de colegi, sprijinit din toate părțile. Cu toate astea, Roman își dorește din ce în ce mai mult să moară. 

Nu pot să spun că mi-a placut romanul, oricât de mult aș vrea. Personajele mi s-au părut lipsite de substanță. Știu, e o carte despre depresie, despre un monstru îngrozitor care te seacă de orice fel de substanță, dar cu toate astea mi s-a părut că povestea putea să capete potențial prin conturarea mai accentuată a personajelor, prin intensificarea conflictelor interioare, chiar prin intensificarea situațiilor prin care personajele sunt nevoite să treacă. E doar părerea mea. Însă voi dacă vreți îi puteți da o șansă pentru a învăța cum să empatizați cu persoanele aflate în această poziție. Să învățăm să fim atenți la semnalele pe care o persoana afectată de depresie le poate da, poate cârva vom putea să salvăm o viață.

When you are sixteen years older is pretty hard to know where your life is going. All the more so as the past keeps hunting you at every step. Aysel has sixteen years old and she lives in a small town of Kentucky together with his mother, step father, step sister and brother. Even if she's only sixteen, Aysel is decided that her life isn't worth living, not when the past hunts you, not when the actions of your parents affects you, not when you are the result of a monstrous love. 

In my opinion, Aysel doesn't try to die. Aysel tries to live. She's just trying to leave a sign of what could happen. She's just trying to scream, but her scream doesn't have an echo because she's screaming inside her, she's screaming for and against her. She's keeping the loved ones at distance as any other teenager, she's waiting for someone to see that she needs to be saved, she needs someone to see the dark monster from inside of her heart. 

A teenager as disoriented as Aysel, is Roman. A sixteen years old boy tortured by the pain and guilt that he feels because of his sister death at only 9 years old. As a difference, Roman is a loved teenager, surrounded by a loving family, protected, adored, helped from all around. Even so, Roman wish for death more and more. 

I can't say i loved this book, as much as i want. The characters had no substance at all. I know, it is a book about depression, about an awful monster which drains any feelings, but even so for me this story could get to a better point. The conflict inside the characters was almost missing, the characters personality was mostly missing, the situations were not having enough details. It is just my opinion. But maybe you could give it a try if you want to know how to empathize with persons like Aysel and Roman. A book that point out the signals that a person with depression leaves and maybe at some point in life we will be capable to save a life.
